COACHING POLICY

1. Playing Time

All players on a roster shall be entitled to playing time. Ideally, all players should play at least half the time. The half time guideline is not a mandatory requirement but a goal. Exceptions to the playing time may be made in the case of injury, failure to attend games and/or practices, provided this is handled uniformly and for other disciplinary reasons.

2. Playing-Up

In the event a player wishes to try out for a team not in that player’s age group, a coach should consult with the coach of the player’s age group regarding the ramifications of the player moving up on that player’s age group team. The Board discourages players playing up that will result in damage to the prospects of the younger team. This shall not apply to players already playing on a team above their respective age group.

3. Respect of Existing Rosters

Once the rosters are established, no coach shall contact a player on an existing Club team about guest playing, transferring, or participating in any activities which may in any respect affect that player’s activity with that player’s existing team without the prior written consent of that player’s current Coach.

4. No Solicitation of Players for Other Economic Purposes

By agreeing to coach for the Club and accepting the compensation, the Coach shall not use his position as a Coach for the Club to solicit additional economic gain for the Coach or others from Club players without the written consent of the Board.

5. Philosophy

Coaches at all times shall conduct themselves professionally and with the understanding that while the Club is a competitive soccer club interested in developing young players in a top flight soccer program, the Club recognizes the importance of the soccer experience in the overall development of young people.

6. Recruitment

Any recruitment of players from another Club shall be done in compliance with CYSA rules. Any selection of a player from outside the Club’s boundaReis should be carefully considered and balanced against the effect of the rejection of Club area players on the ultimate overall development of the specific Team as well as the entire Club program.
