Scholastic All Star Awards
Date: Tuesday, March 23
Time: 7:30 pm
Location:
Jackson Elementary in El Dorado Hills (2561 Francisco
Blvd.)
Overview
The El Dorado United Competitive Club (EDUCC) encourages
all participants to strive for academic excellence.
EDUCC will hold an awards ceremony in early March (date
and time TBA) to honor academic achievement of our
Scholastic All Stars.
EDUCC strongly believes that academics should be the
primary focus in our children’s lives and we welcome
opportunities to recognize players who have been able to
maintain high academic standards while participating in
our Club. After all, the word “student” precedes athlete
in the term Student Athlete.
Program Description
All EDUCC players are eligible to apply for academic
recognition by the Scholastic All Star Program.
Applicant must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point
average during the quarter/trimester/semester in which
the applicant participated in EDUCC. We will be looking
at the fall trimester for 2009.
• GPA for all subjects will be
determined by the following scale:
A = 4 points (AP courses 5 points)
B = 3 points (AP courses 4 points)
C = 2 points (AP courses 3 points)
GPA equals the total grade points divided by the number
of subjects.
• There can be no citizenship mark below “S” or grade
below “C”.
• Applicants attending schools that do not use letter
grades or where the applicant is too young to receive a
letter grade, a letter from the applicant’s teacher, on
school letterhead, will be given consideration for
Scholastic All Star honors. The letter must state the
applicant would qualify for consideration with a minimum
3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 grading system. If the letter
does not specify the letter grade, the applicant will be
awarded the Bronze level.
Applicants attaining the following GPA levels of
achievement shall be honored as follows:
4.1+ = Platinum All Star
4.0 = Gold All Star
3.5 - 3.9 = Silver All Star
3.0 - 3.4 = Bronze All Star
