Meeting called to order at 7:39 PM

MANAGER’S REPORT:

·         Prospector / Cameron Park CSD has requested that EDUCC share in the cost of getting a new set of goals for Christa Park.  These goals will be like the ones purchased for Pondo.  We are asked to pay 1/3, which equates to $1350.00.    Ordering through Off Side Soccer.   This will be brought up as old business during the next board meeting.

·         League meeting February 22nd – Fire Station in Diamond Springs – 7:00

·         District VI Playing League meeting scheduled for February 27th  – no time yet or place – usually at Arco.  The EDUCC U15 and up try out schedules need to be provided during this meeting.

·         U15 and up try out dates – window is April 15th – May 15th.  Dates proposed are April 21st and 22nd; April 28th and 29th; May 5th and 6th.  Since there are no preferences from the meeting attendees, Brian will pick the Boys versus Girls tryout dates.

·         FYI - Christa and Bass Lake are unavailable after March until practices start in June.

·         Congratulations!  Three teams made the top ten in Northern California – Breeze, Knights and Extreme.

·         Thursday, February 22nd will be the meeting date for the board to finalize coach selection.

GIRL’S V.P.

Nothing new to report.

BOY’s V.P.

Nothing new to report.

WINTER V.P.

No winter VP – Brian indicated that everything is going along OK.

TREASURER

Beginning balance -            $1837.33

Revenue -                    $4250.00

Disbursements -             $45.00

Estimated balance -             $6042.33

Elaine reported that no checks are going out for coaches.  If there is a need to send a check, then the team treasurer must contact Elaine.  Elaine inquired whether lights were being used any longer.  The response is none at this time – but a bill is expected for use up to this point.

Linda reported that a bill has been sent to Elaine regarding banners that have been ordered to advertise player tryouts.  A banner was available for everyone to view.  These will be put up in various locations around El Dorado Hills, Cameron Park and Placerville.

REFEREE COORDINATOR

·         Referee Coordinator is absent – Brian is reporting in Dennis’s place.

·         Need two player Non Participation Forms – one for U17 Girls and one for U17 Boys –  These forms needs to be filled out to show the games that these two players sat out – or they won’t get to play State Cup.

·         It is being suggested that the club referee coordinator be paid for services provided to the club.  $300.00 for Fall Season and $200.00 for Winter Season.  Other clubs are paying their coordinators and pressure is coming from District Referee coordinator who is currently paid.  Some discussion regarding other non-paid volunteers – but Brian basically wanted to bring the subject up to elicit conversation.  This will be discussed again at the next board meeting, hopefully with Dennis in attendance.  A suggestion was given that it would be very helpful if Dennis could set up e-mail so that it would be easier to communicate referee needs for the club.

REGISTRAR

·         Mary reported that the league does not have a registrar yet, which is a concern.  It is causing problems trying to get a team squared away for State cup.

TOURNAMENT

·         Tom Brown reported to the group that he has volunteered as the 2001 tournament coordinator.  He indicated that last year’s tournament has some problems, but commended the volunteers that pitched in at the last minute to help out.  Even though everyone tried there best given the situation, there were a lot of complaints and dissatisfaction.  Many problems with fields – lack of lines/scheduling issues/ not enough referees or too many.  This tournament is named as a memorial for Joe Ribaudo, and sadly, his daughter was embarrassed to have her father’s name associated with it.

·         Tom’s first suggestion for improvement is to cut down to 38 teams – 6 teams per age groups; Boys U12 – U14 and Girls U12 – U16.  Tom indicated that he originally submitted for Sept 22nd and 23rd.  However, the CYSA has scheduled the tournament weekend as Sept 29th and 30th.    This has caused some problems in finding fields, but Tom is working on it.

·         Tom is looking for many volunteers to help out in various areas.  If you would like to assist, please contact Tom at 933-5720 or t_brown2001@yahoo.com.

·         These are the following areas needing assistance:

Vice Chair -

Treasurer -  Elaine Chappell

Referee Coordinator –  Dennis Hogate

Web site coordinator – Sondel Fermer

Committees for Fields – each age group boys/girls will be responsibility for fields

Program/advertisement/sponsorship

Photographer

Awards/metals

Arranging hotels/lodging  (two new hotels in Folsom would be ideal)

General advertising – use website appropriately to disperse information

Refuse collection

Meet three times prior to season getting started – one or two parents per team involved would be ideal.

OLD BUSINESS

·         Lights – why did lights get turned off at Brooks fields?  Everyone assumed due to power shortages.  Brian reported that a group of 4 or 5 people around Brooks fields called and complained about the lights being on during the energy crisis.  EDH CSD director (Wayne Lowery) ordered that lights be turned off.  Call Wayne and leave a message and he might be encouraged to turn the lights back on if enough parents call.  The County followed the El Dorado Hills initiative and turned the lights out at Lotus.

·         Uniforms – An example of a Diadora uniform was shown to the group.  Royal Blue with Gold wide strips.  2 shirts/2 socks/1 short - $115.00.  There was some discussion on moving to Navy versus Royal Blue, due to the lack of distributors offering Royal Blue.   The issue arose regarding some older players do not like the Navy because these are Oakridge colors.  An informal vote was held and the general consensus was to stay with Royal Blue.  Socks were decided to stay with one color – royal and gold.  Good job Diane!!!

NEW BUSINESS

·         Coaches – Brian encouraged everyone to use his e-mail address to forward comments regarding coaches. Frazier@coldwellbanker.com.  The board will meet on 2/22 to finalize coach selection.  The board members vote for each team/coach, but each board member can not vote on their child’s particular team coach. The Manager only has a vote in the instance of a tie.  The question was asked about whether there were enough applications for all teams.  Brian felt that there were probably enough.   He reported that there were at least two coaches that wanted to move to EDUCC from other clubs.

·         A comment was given by a parent requesting that coaches for older teams have tactical ability along with the ability to handle the maturity level of the older players.

·         U13 Knights – Juan Romeriz – Diane Barclay reported that a total of 13 parents are either attending the meeting and/or have written letters in support of the return of this coach.

·         U15 Girls - Jeremy Fields – started with a roster of 15 – losing girls due to situations beyond the teams control – now down to 11 players, one of which is injured.  Jeremy has tried to keep the team going.  May have to drop out of state cup due to this.    Tom wants to put a vote in favor for Jeremy.  Blake also supported these comments indicating that Jeremy ran good practices.

·         U17 Girls – going to state cup without a coach.  A parent highly recommends a coach by the name of Henry Relis (sp?) for this team.  Brian also concurs with this recommendation and is attempting to address this prior to State Cup.

·         U11 Girls – A parent recommended a coach by the name of Duncan Brand who currently is doing well with the U11 Boys River City B team.  Brian reported that he received a good recommendation for Duncan.  His licensing should not be an issue due to his high European credentials. He comes with a lot of experience and if we can attain him that would be good for our club.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00.
