MANAGER’S REPORT:

·         Deb Finneran is new league president.  Mike Bier is V.P.  Discussion on how this leadership changes may affect our club.  At this time, there is no concern that this will impact our club negatively.  We should be fine.

·         Re-districting all districts – San Francisco district wants to expand their reach to San Jose.  Also suggesting that Sacramento to be just Sacramento – EDUCC would have to be affiliated with teams very far away (Tahoe).  1 person per team can vote – your name must be affiliated with the rooster (child’s last name is sufficient).  This meeting (annual general meeting for CYSA) is held on February 3rd and 4th.  The 4th is the actual meeting (vote) at the Oakland Marriott.  Must be present to vote – no proxy votes.  This meeting will be very strictly governed.

·         Janice attended the District VI league AGM meeting last month and was disappointed with the small turnout.

·         Brian discussed the 01/16/01 playing league meeting – topic “core of 11 players” – must have a core group of 11 players that reside in your league area.  Therefore you can not have a team from outside the area.  Brian does not anticipate that this will affect the current teams formed.  But new teams may have to adhere to this new rule.

GIRL’S V.P.

Nothing new to report.

BOY’s V.P.

Janice reported for Suzanne.  Janice wants to get communication out on web site regarding upcoming try-outs and also coaches selection for 2001 season.  Want to have communication sent out to existing 2000 coaches to see if they are interested in applying again for 2001.   Practice schedules seem to be OK for the time being.  Janice to ensure that everyone is still keeping to the schedule that is assigned.

WINTER V.P.

No V.P.   Brian indicated that everything seems to be OK so far.

TREASURER

Elaine indicated that she needed to get tournament funds from Paul.  Elaine is concerned that our funds are starting to get low and we still have lights to pay for.

Beginning balance -            $5296.33

Ending balance -             $1837.33

Tournament -               $4700.00

Estimated balance -             $6537.33

REFEREE COORDINATOR

Feb 13th and 14th – Blue Oak School – Referee Class.  See Dennis for details.

REGISTRAR

Quiet for now.  Guest players for State Cup are taken care of.   Ponderosa High School student in critical condition at UC Davis.  Diane will send a card for the club.

OLD BUSINESS

·         Need to finish elections. Girl’s V.P. needs to be officially voted.  Blake Kline was nominated and voted in for the position.  Looking for Field/Equip Coordinator and Uniform Coordinator.

·         Uniforms were discussed and we may not go with Cemare due to the poor quality with our current ‘blue’ uniforms which are now in varying shades of purple.  Brian has received a call from Puma that he will follow up on.  Diane has volunteered for the uniform coordinator.  Suggestion was made for Diane to attend the CYSA AGM.  Many uniform representatives will be available for viewing.  Brian also suggested that teams be responsible for ordering on their own, since the club had many problems this year with bad orders being place and the club having to deal with this.  $103.00 is what we paid last year for 2 jerseys, 2 socks and 1 short.   We can set up a meeting where all choices of uniforms (samples) and get comments from team representatives.

·         Feb 1st meeting at CSD to allocate field use for all sports.    Brian indicated that he would go to this meeting.  But he can not handle the day to day field problems such as setting up goals and marking the fields.  If no one volunteers as the field coordinator, then we will have to have each team designate an individual to make sure goals are set up and taken down for first and last game.

·         Fundraiser ($10.00 ‘coupon’ cards) – need funds from U-12 girls.  But all funds are turned in otherwise.

NEW BUSINESS

·         2001 Tryout dates:

March for U10 to U14 and April 15th – May 15th for older.

March 10th Girls at Christa

March 11th Boys at Pondo

March 17th Boys at Christa

March 18th Girls at Pondo

March 19th U10 Boys and Girls at Christa – 5:30 – 7:30

March 20th U11 Boys and Girls at Christa – 5:30 – 7:30

March 21st U12 Boys and Girls at Christa – 5:30 – 7:30

March 22nd U13 Boys and Girls at Christa – 5:30 – 7:30

March 24th U14 Boys and Girls at Christa – 5:30 – 7:30

Rain make up days will be 31st and April 1st.

Can accommodate 2 age groups at a time, so one field should be enough.  U10/U11 together, U12/U13 together and U14 on their own.

Will get a mailing list together to send out flyers.  Diane will make sure advertisements will be Cameron Park and El Dorado Hills local papers.  Look at posting at Metro City and Off the Wall and also flyers at local schools.   Janis will make up a flyer and send it to Diane.

Will address the older age group schedules at next meeting.

·         Coaches selection – all of the coaches that are coaching this season need to be asked if they would like to continue for 2001 season.  A mailing with application to existing coaches needs to be coordinated.  Application needs to be turned in by an established date.  Any new coaches can also turn in application at this time.  The meeting in February is the 19th – should have all coaching applications turned in by Feb 10th.    We want to have coaches in place before tryouts.

Elaine asked about how the coaching salary is determined.  Elaine suggested that the board should set a standard that is fair for everyone.  Maybe two separate salary structures based upon experience.   Discussion about the use of trainers along with coaches.  Brian indicated that the Sacramento teams have a ‘gentleman’ agreement that each coach is paid no more than $650.00 a month.  May come up with a ‘paid by practice/game’ structure.  Also discussed problem this year where some fees are not being paid by parents.  This needs to be addressed for next year to ensure that this problem is minimized.   Suggestions made that for those parents struggling to pay fees, either players or parents can possibly work in lieu of fees (referee’s, lining fields, etc.).

·         Earthquakes has a proposal that they will bring in trainers that will take care of all teams in a club for about $5000.00 a year.  This could be an alternative if we can not find coaches with appropriate licensing (district D).

Meeting adjourned at 9:18.
