MANAGER’S REPORT:

·         Applications for State Cup due November 1st.  Copy of Golden Rod, application and $300.00 needed to apply.  See the CYSANorth.org website for applications and information.

·         Brian attended the Bass Lake Park orientation meeting.  An interesting mix of people attended from neighbors, Frisbee golf, nature enthusiasts, softball, baseball and soccer representatives.   Maps were distributed of the plan.  20 of the 40 acres are usable.  Then due to the number of trees, Brian feels that there will only be room for 2 fields.  There is still a question as to whether lights will be allowed or not.  Softball, baseball, soccer representatives agreed that lights are necessary.  If we can’t have lights at this facility, then lets figure out where else can support lighted fields.  The possible Future Park area between the El Dorado Hills Elementary school and proposed commercial are seems more logical for an area with lights.  Next meeting will be held on November 1st at the El Dorado County library in Placerville – from 7:00 – 8:30.

·         Starting November 2nd, EDUCC teams can begin using the Brooks field for practice on Monday, Tuesday and Fridays.  The lights are available from 5:00 – 10:00 PM.  Shawn and Janis are finalizing the schedule.  Starting in December, we can have the field on Thursday also.  Shawn feels that by splitting the field area into three sections, three teams can practice in 30 minute rotations for 1 ½ hours

·         Brian reported on the District VI Playing league meeting.

·         He indicated that the U10 policy is being reviewed.  The changes proposed will allow the competitive teams to play in jamborees throughout CYSA North.  This will give some differentiation between the select and comp guidelines.

·         The policy for rescheduling of games was also discussed at length.  This has not been an issue with EDUCC, but apparently other clubs are having problems with this.  The new policy being proposed would mandate that a new form would have to be turned in before league starts.   Failure to do so will result in a $300.00 fine, plus referee fees, plus not allowing a team to field a new team during the next season.  Everyone agreed that this seems to harsh.   Brian wants to understand why this has become such an issue for such a harsh policy.  Based on the reaction with the meeting attendees, EDUCC will not support this new policy when it is voted on.

·         League championship tie breakers will be determined by the same rules used at state cup – go to the web site for the break down of the rules

·         The items reported from the EDYSL meeting are:

·         The Golden Sierra girls soccer team wants to put on a camp in January.  They have asked if someone from EDUCC coupld help putting on this camp.

·         It has been stated that Deb is not returning as President and Mike will not return as VP.  It looks like not many volunteers will be involved next season.  It would be good if someone from EDUCC would join the EDYSL board.

·         Discussed the referee situation from the last weekend.  There were many home games and apparently there were problems with lack of lines people showing up for the games.  There was also some concern about the experience of some of the center referees and lines people.  Shawn and Brian will be evaluating this to ensure that the remainder of home games will be staffed appropriately.

BOY’s V.P.

·         Boys U10 jamboree this Sunday at Rasmussen.

GIRL’S V.P.

WINTER V.P.

·         No report.

Disbursements  $22,750.00

Revenue  $18,706.00

Balance $10997.37

·         What was decided about player scholarships?  We have one player where the monthly fees are not being paid.  Brian will go to District VI for support for this player.

REFEREE COORDINATOR

·          Absent

REGISTRAR

·         Need to make sure that all of your paperwork is in order before attending State Cup.

TOURNAMENT

COACHING COORDINATOR

·         Discussed the schedule for Brooks field in detail.  Also, are any teams interested in going to Lotus?  If so, let Brian know.

·         Goal Keeper training will move to Brooks starting November 5th – 5:45 start time.

·         It will be very important to keep accurate record of when the lights are turned on and off at Brooks.  We do not want to be charged for days that we do not practice due to inclement weather or cancelled practices.  A clipboard will be kept in the shed where coaches can sign in and sign out.  Also, someone must be responsible for turning the lights out before the last team leaves the field.  This is also very important as we could lose privileges if they are on and no one is on the field.

·         Shawn proposed two names for nominees for District VI coach of the year for boys and girls.  Everyone agreed with the nominees proposed.

·         Shawn is already receiving resumes for coaches for next season.  A process needs to be established for interviewing the prospective coaches.    Also need to start planning for next season as far as who is coming back.  Shawn will start looking for commitments from our current coaches.  Also, do we want to continue having the same coach for a team over three years?  This will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

·         Shawn reported on the play day this past Sunday.  The event was posted on the website and all coaches were notified.  10 boys and 4 girls attended.   This will continue every Sunday except tournament Sunday.  It went well and the kids that showed up had a great time.  Next one is November 4th and Shawn will try to get a different field other than Bass Lake.   Same time frame.

·         Two of our teams are attending the Nomad tournament in San Diego – U14 and U18 Boys.  This is great for our club.

·         Shawn reported that he has given two presentations to other clubs regarding club structure and success stoReis.  He did this for Santa Cruz and Placer.   Also, Santa Cruz will possibly have a class I tournament next year.

OLD BUSINESS

·         None

NEW BUSINESS

·         Tami Brown and Laurene Meyer presented ideas for brochures for our club.  Laurene is a Graphic Designer and by default has gotten into promoting soccer.  She showed various examples of her work, including brochures for San Juan Try Out information, Cal Cup tournament, Hoek Soccer Camp and Cap Valley tournament logo.    She designs the brochure, using pictures provided by the club (which Tami indicates she can do) and the board provides specific verbiage about the club.  She left examples and an estimate for her effort.

·         Relating to advertising, Shawn wanted to be sure that all of the local papers contain ads for our tryouts.  The Mountain Democrat, El Dorado Hills Telegraph, Folsom Telegraph and Sacramento Bee are all options.

·         This lead to the discussion on next season tryouts.  It was decided that the brochure would not necessarily contain the tryout schedule, as it is too probable that the schedule would change at a moments notice.  The brochure could point everyone to the website where the current schedule could be maintained.  Also, a small insert could be placed in the brochure, if needed.  This would also make the brochures multi-purpose versus specifically set up for tryouts.

Meeting adjourned at approximately 10:00.
