Meeting
called to order at 7:40 PM at Denny’s in Cameron Park.
MANAGER’S REPORT:
· At the district meeting last month, Brian indicated that the draft referee policy was reviewed. District VI first rejected it as they felt it was drafted for competitive soccer. However, they will allow accept it for competitive team play. It will be out on the District VI site. Brian reviewed the points briefly.
· Brian discussed the Playing league district VI PAD policy (policy regarding the procedure for handling player red cards). There is a PAD report to fill out by the referee. They are then given to Joy. She will e-mail 5 unbiased managers for opinions on the number of games the player will sit out. The first three replies will be used to determine the number of games. This process is followed unless there is a special circumstance where a phone call is warranted instead of an e-mail. If a player is affected on EDUCC, we need to be sure to contact Brian and coordinate the paperwork so that player passes are appropriately handled and returned timely to the team.
· The Sideline behavior policy was also discussed at the playing league meeting. After much debate, it was determined that district VI will follow the published sideline policy that is provided by CYSA in the Team manual. It is recommended that each team copy and distribute this to all players/parents.
· Brian reported that the club flyer is still in progress.
· Club t-shirts are also being investigated.
· Brian asked for an update from Sean on the Soccer school. Shawn confirmed that the EDH CSD fields are available on Friday nights and that the only outstanding item is to confirm start date and times. Flyers are being created. Labels are needed from Mary for mailing.
· Brian is working with an individual affiliated with the MISL San Diego Sockers who organizes 3 v 3 tournaments in San Diego. He does about 5 a year and they have proven to be very successful. He is willing to come up in December to help us organize one in Northern California to spread the exposure for this fun event. Brian believes we could use EDH CSD. We could run 100 teams through on a Saturday or Sunday; have 4 kids to a team (1 sub); no goalies – specifically a skills game – 1 v 1 type of soccer. The fee would be $25 per child. We could fit 8 fields on one full size field. All participants would get a T-shirt and medallions to winners. No player older than 15 would be allowed.
· There will be a meeting on Oct 5th to kick off the planning for the 40 acres on Bass Lake road where they are designing the new county park. Not sure how the Bass Lake field will be placed in conjunction with this new facility. The design is targeted to be complete by the first of the year. The meeting will be from 9:00 to noon at the Bass Lake fire station. A tour of facility will be included. The purpose of the meeting is to gather ideas, suggestions, wants and desires of all sports clubs/leagues in the area. This will also be a lighted facility. It was discussed what EDUCC would like to see in the park. The problem is that many fields are combo fields – softball/baseball with soccer. The overall desire of EDUCC would be soccer only fields, baseball only fields, softball only fields, football and so forth. At least two lighted fields dedicated to soccer. This will be discussed at the EDYSL meeting tomorrow night so that the overall message from EDYSL can be represented.
· Brian indicated that the EDUCC Annual General Meeting would be planned for October. He is going to work on a letter that will go out to all players. Discussed where to hold the meeting, possible the Cameron Park library is one option. Another is the County of Education in Placerville, which is free to use. A copy of the budget for will also be included in the letter along with information about the soccer school. Due to the timing of sending out the flyer, the next board meeting may be cancelled in lieu of the AGM instead.
· Brain wanted to express his thanks to Sondel for doing such a great job on the website. It has last minute, up to date information and you need to check it out! www.eldoradounited.com Good job Sondel!
BOY’s V.P.
· Absent
GIRL’S V.P.
·
Zeca
has requested to move his U11 games to Bass Lake. Pat thinks this is based on size of the Pondo fields. Shawn commented that the Bass Lake field is
currently marked for 10’s is too small for 11 players. Brian and Shawn need to discuss this with
Zeca.
·
Pat
needs more paint and needed to be sure that he needs to continue to mark the
upper field at Pondo.
WINTER V.P.

·
The
other report is the anticipated 2001 –2002 remaining budget for the
season. This will be mailed to all
registered players.
·
At
the AGM, Elaine would like to discuss moving the budget to June 1st
through May 31st, as this aligns much better with the playing
season. This will need to be voted on
by the board as it is a by law.
·
Elaine
would like to get verification of the number of players on each team. She needs to verify that the amounts
collected per team are accurate.
·
Doing
OK – only a few complaints. All league
games are covered. However, still need
lines covered for the home tournament.
If any teams have anyone to offer for this, please get with Dennis right
away.
·
There
is another referee class starting on Tuesday, running for two weeks at Sierra Accelerated school in Placerville
·
Absent
·
Field
Marshall meeting on Thursday the 20th at 7:00 at Cameron Park
library. Tom has put an incredible
amount of work into the tournament. It
should be much better organized this year.
·
Shawn
has additional game cards if anyone needs them.
·
Time
change is approaching. How are we doing
with attaining lighted fields? Brian
reported that we are signed up to gain access to the field at Brooks in EDH. Also discussed getting Lotus again. Some teams were interested in using
this. Brian will check it out again.
·
The
last two coaches meetings had to be cancelled due to conflicts. However, the September meeting did occur as
scheduled. Unfortunately, the Knights
coaches were unable to attend due to travel conflicts. Playing league contact information was
passed out. Passed out the home
schedules. Also have the monthly
reports to pass out for the coaches that missed.
·
Shawn
received three phone calls regarding the 9/8 U12 girls’ game against Elk
Grove. There was a red card issued to
the Elk Grove coach very early on in the first half. He was very upset. As
the game progressed, there were a total of 4 PK’s called, 3 of which were
against El Dorado. The El Dorado
parents sideline behavior is what prompted the phone calls to Shawn. He has discussed this with Jeremy. Linda reported that Jeremy has already held
a parent meeting to cover appropriate sideline behavior. This should not be an issue in the future.
·
Shawn
indicated that he has been approached a few times in regards to college
recruiting. This is great that JC
Colleges and some division 2 are approaching our club. He also wanted to let everyone know that he
is more than willing to act as a reference for any potential college bound
student who is interested in playing college soccer.
·
Make
sure to pick up your game balls after the meeting. The 5’s have a 3 year unconditional warranty and the 4’s have a 1
year warranty.
· None
·
Brian
was asked to watch some select and rec games.
He saw a great player on a boys U12 rec team. Talked to parents that were interested to hear about comp. He will continue to do this periodically to
spread the word among the community about Comp Soccer, since there is still a
lack of awareness that we even exist.
Meeting
adjourned at approximately 9:15.
