MANAGER’S REPORT:

·         No league meeting this month.  A dinner was held instead.  Nothing to report.

·         No one was able to attend the playing league meeting from EDUCC.

·         Brian will be meeting with Elaine to transition the bank transition takes place between treasurer and that signature cards are updated.  Then 2001 bills for lights, referees and web page hosting fees can be taken care of before 2002 arrives.

·         Discussed the need to purchase additional paint for the winter season.  Research will be done to see if purchasing from a local hardware store is more economical than ordering from Soccer Locker as we have done in the past.  The benefit of ordering through Miro is that we will also get a free paint machine when ordering a full pallet.

·         Brian has given the winter schedule to the Cameron Park CSD.  If for some reason a game must be rescheduled, do not assume that the field will be available unless you check with the CSD.  They may schedule other activities for the fields on days we are not scheduled to use them.

PUBLICITY

·         Diane gave a quick update on the brochure progress.  Everything is ready to go except for coaching staff resumes, which Shawn will provide as soon as he is able.  Once the tryout date, time and locations are determined, then a decision will be made on whether to include this information in the actual brochure, or whether it will be an insert instead.  The cost of printing will determine which way to go.

OLD BUSINESS

·         None

NEW BUSINESS

·         The question was posed to the group in regards to the club paying for coach licensing courses.   ‘C’ license is $945.  ‘B’ is $1500 – $2000.  ‘A’ license is over $2000.  In the past, we haven’t paid the coach until the coach has gotten their license, and it is customary that EDUCC pays half and the league picks up the other half.  Also – expenses of room, board and transportation are typically picked up by the coach.  There was a question regards to whether the coach is required to sign a contract or some type of termed commitment to the club once these fees have been paid.  This will be something the 2002 board will address more formally.  For the time being, the class fees in question for the U10 coach attending the Las Vegas ‘C’ coarse in January will be discussed with Shawn Blakeman before a determination is made.  Henry will follow up on this.

·         Brian Frazier indicated that Christa might be available for tryouts.  The board will need to contact the CSD to firm this up.  Once fields are locked down, then exact date and times can be set.

·         Henry Reis provided some feedback to Chris Konwinski in regards to the U18 Boys game he center refereed this last weekend.  This led to the suggestion of the creation of a referee and lines evaluation form that can be filled out as a mechanism for feedback.

·         Henry Reis asked for feedback in regards to the continuation of Shawn Blakeman as the coaching director, even though he is now located in Florida.  The coaches present provided feedback that this would be a benefit to them and to the club in regards to Shawn’s past involvement with the club.  It was agreed that this could be evaluated month to month with the intent for turnover to be complete by May to a new coaching director.  A motion was raised to retain Shawn Blakeman as the EDUCC Coaching Director for a reduced fee on a month-to-month basis.  The motion was seconded and passed.

·         Lance Maguire brought up that the U13 Girls had a real problem with Challenge Cup.  Their games were cancelled on Sunday because they were not part of the playoffs.  Helen Schureman indicated that this was due to a shortage of referees and the decision was made to allow the championship games to be held and cancel the other games.

Meeting adjourned at 9:00.
