El
Dorado United is pleased to announce Martin Sims as the
Boy’s Coaching Coordinator for the 2012 season. Sims,
who graduated in 1994 from CSU Sacramento, played for
the Hornets and then went on to play professionally with
the Sacramento Knights, winning a championship in 1999.
Sims began coaching at Placer United in 1995, coaching
both boys and girls teams and working with several
different age groups. He helped multiple players move on
to play in college. Some of his former players went on
to play at Georgetown University, Seattle University,
CSU Monterrey Bay, Saint Mary's College and Baylor
University. Sims also coached the Sierra College Women’s
Soccer team from 2004-06. His teams made the playoffs in
each of his three seasons and made the Regional final
once. Most recently, Sims was the Assistant Director of
Coaches at Placer Blues, where one of his teams, in it's
first year together, made it to the NorCal State Cup
semi-finals.
As the Boy’s Coordinator, Sims will be working closely
with all the boys teams—players and coaches. Rick
Carrigan, Director of Coaching for El Dorado United said
about Sims, “We are excited to have someone with
Martin’s experience on our staff. Not only has he played
at the highest level, but he’s also proved that he can
develop players. And, he’s been involved on an
administrative level with two different clubs. He will
be an excellent mentor to our coaches and players.”
Welcome to El Dorado United, Martin!
